Federal judge dismisses part of CDK lawsuit
A federal judge has dismissed part of a lawsuit brought by dealership software provider CDK Global Inc. against a group of dealerships that alleges they improperly allowed third parties to access CDK's dealership management system. CDK has until Sept. 30 to revise and resubmit its claim that the 17 dealerships violated the federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which guards against computer hacking.
Calif. lawmakers OK exemption to data law for recalls
The California auto dealers association sought the exemption to the data privacy law so customers could continue to be notified of recalls or warranty work. The bill now goes to Gov. Gavin Newsom for consideration.
